How to Design and Manage a Dental Practice Utilizing Mid-Level Providers
Well, we all know that mid-level providers in the form of either RDAs or RDHs has their stake securely in the ground. Fourteen states have passed or are passing legislation to forward the training and development of these mid-level providers. Reimbursement for their services is being worked out by Federal and State governments. The type of work they will do is designed to significantly expand access, preventing and treating disease in kids and young adults.
What has yet to be created is the organizational expression, whether for profit or non-profit, that employs mid-level providers. More than likely, some level of dentist-supervision will be required for managing risk and reducing liability.
Given the script is not yet written, I am proposing a 1½ -day program for dentists who are interested in designing a for-profit dental enterprise that will utilize mid-level providers. This program is for those dentists who can honestly see themselves as senior executives, not chair-side dentists, managing and leading clinical and administrative staff, with a senior level executive team, to provide basic services through mid-level providers. I invite those dentists who have demonstrated an aptitude in managing and leading staff.
